Flood Control / Water Quality

Many communities experience flooding due to inadequate storage capacity within their local watersheds.  Water Resources has developed a unique way of dealing with such issues by creating regional flood storage basins along flood-prone waterways.  Because we also establish wetland communities in the bottoms of these basins, the excess water stored within them is naturally cleaned and filtered before being released back to the adjacent waterways.

Over the past several years Water Resources has been engaged in a one-of-a-kind public/private partnership with the City of Louisville, Kentucky involving the construction of flood control basins.  Our firm provides a turnkey operation which includes the purchase of land, basin construction, and environmental permitting.  Currently we are excavating a 320 acre-ft capacity basin which is the third in a series for that community.  All three will be incorporated into the city’s system of greenways.
